E-FishersWe’re glad you have chosen to visit our site! It is an outgrowth of a small tract entitled “Emily.” (If you have not yet read it, we hope you will do so by clicking “Emily Tract.”) By its nature, a tract gives a concise message in limited space. As the authors of the tract, we felt the need to make more information available—to expand on the message. We encourage you to avail yourself of this by reading Eternal Life.

We’d love to hear from you! We’ll gladly respond to any e-mail we receive at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Emily TractChoosing a name for a child is not always an easy task! We had read through name lists, discussed several possibilities and finally decided on Emily Suzanne. To see your name, or the name of someone you love, in writing is usually a source of pride and joy.

We first saw her name written in the nursery of the hospital where she was born; it was on the little infant bed so that when family and friends peered through the glass at all the babies, they could identify the newborn who was so special to them.
We wrote her name with great pride on the birth announcements we sent out, letting our friends know that we had been blessed with our second child. Not many weeks later, we received an official birth certificate from the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics with her name, our names and other information concerning her birth.

Eternal Life

Hi! I’m glad you are taking the time to look further into this vital matter of eternal life. Life on earth is short, at best, so it is of utmost importance that we know where we are going when we die. That’s what I want to talk about here. So let’s just “jump in with all four feet” and get started.

We are told in the book of Romans that when Adam disobeyed God by taking the forbidden fruit, he became a sinner. “Wherefore as by one man sin entered the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12) and verse 19 adds, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners.” Since Adam’s sin has passed upon all, we are sinners from day one. It is further stated in Romans 3:10, “There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Righteous means in right standing with God; without sin.) This passage refers back to Psalms 14:1-3 where God says what He sees when He observes man and his doings. Also Romans 3:23 states, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” In other words, even the very best we can do is just not good enough. When we consider the holiness and perfection of God, we quickly see that we fall short, (miss the mark), by an enormous distance. It is not a matter of what we think sin is or is not. The Word there says “ALL” (none excluded) have sinned. You see, we sin because we are sinners; we are not sinners because we sin. God says in Isaiah 64:6, “All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.” In other words, all the good and right things we try to do to make ourselves pure and improve our standing with God is, in comparison, as the filthy bandages the poor leper removes from his bleeding, putrefying flesh. Well, at this point we have gotten ourselves down mighty low and in a very hopeless condition, especially when we also come to understand that we must be perfectly clean (righteous) to enter into heaven where God dwells and where we want to dwell also.

THE EMILY STORY

On June 3, 1978, Dad, 3 year old Clay, and a very pregnant Mom headed out from Tallahassee to the old farm in Madison where Grandma was preparing a wonderful country dinner (that comes at noon country time). We stopped by Monticello to pick peaches. When Sandi started having contractions, we wondered if we should continue on or return home. Sandi asked God for some help. Just as we were leaving the orchard she experienced a really hard contraction – we took that as the answer to her request and headed back to Tallahassee. On the way, we stopped by a phone booth and called Grandma and told her to pack up the dinner and come on over to Tally. That afternoon at 5:24 we were presented with our special little “peach” and named her Emily Suzanne. (Sandi was so convinced it was going to be a boy, she had trouble believing it was a girl!)
